Coach Ryan

My wife and I were inspired to start Rooted Recreation after our daughter participated in an incredible Christian based homeschool PE program while we lived in the Panhandle. When we moved back to St. Cloud, we realized there wasn’t anything similar available here, so we felt called to create it ourselves. I’ve had a lifelong passion for athletics. Growing up, I competed in organized wrestling and spent my free time skateboarding, while also enjoying most other sports recreationally. Through wrestling, I was fortunate to learn from incredible coaches who motivated and shaped me. Skateboarding, along with other recreational sports, taught me to appreciate self directed activity and the freedom and fun that comes with it. Both fitness and faith have played a major role in shaping my character. They teach many of the same core values such as discipline, perseverance, humility, and integrity, and together they provide a strong foundation for personal growth. It brings me great joy to combine fitness and faith while investing in the youth of our community, helping them grow not only physically, but also in character and purpose through a Christian based foundation.

Coach Cam

I am a junior in high school and am grateful to have the opportunity to be homeschooled. I attend church regularly, and am active in my youth group. I am also a member of our worship team.  I have also been a part of a great CrossFit gym for about the last five years. I have learned so much in CrossFit that mirrors my faith.  CrossFit can be very challenging. There are times I thought I wasn’t going to get through a workout, but I didn’t give up.  It felt so good to make it through. It made me stronger. My faith is the same.  When I face hard times, I know that God will see me through. That He challenges me to make me stronger in my faith. I'm excited to be a part of Rooted Recreation and encourage other kids to grow stronger, not just physically, but in their faith, and to remind them that God is with them through every challenge.
